The History of Vegcars
In 1892, Rudolph Diesel was granted Patent No. 67207 in Germany for his invention of a compression engine that was revolutionary for its time. The engine was demonstrated at the Exhibition Fair in Paris, France in 1898 and ran on peanut oil. The engine achieved remarkable efficiency for its day. 113 years later in central California, I purchased a 1984 Mercedes Benz 300D that had been converted to run on cooking oil.
I collect the used cooking oil from local restaurants. They normally pay another company to take the oil away so they are happy when I offer to take some for free. I have logged more than 3,000 miles on used cooking oil and so far, the car runs great, I'm polluting less, and contributing a little less to the petroleum industrial complex. Email me if you have any questions.
This site is my attempt to provide you with information that will help you to kick the petroleum habit.
